On March 15, 2025, the Student Scientific Research Conference of the Faculty of Foreign Languages took place successfully, providing students with valuable opportunities to develop their academic thinking in the field of scientific research. The conference was honored to have the participation of a guest speaker, an experienced researcher in the field of foreign languages, along with the Faculty’s leadership, lecturers, and a large number of students from the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
This year’s conference recorded a significant increase in both the quantity and quality of research projects. The Faculty of Foreign Languages had a total of 44 scientific research topics, of which 29 are pending approval at the university level, and 15 were registered at the faculty level. These figures reflect the students’ continuous creativity and serious commitment to scientific research.
The research projects this year covered a wide range of highly relevant fields, and addressed timely, relevent issues, such as:
• Advanced foreign language teaching methods
• Application of technology in language learning
• Studies on culture and language in the context of globalization
• Contrastive linguistics analysis and professional translation
The diversity of research topics demonstrates the students’ strong interest in practical issues, while also showcasing their outstanding critical thinking and creativity in scientific research activities. The research projects were highly evaluated for their creativity, applicability, scientific value, and potential contributions to the development of the foreign language field.
The conference provided students passionate about scientific research with an opportunity to interact and exchange experiences with seasoned experts in the field. Notably, the participation of Dr. Đặng Tấn Tín, Head of the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education and Director of the Vietnam Association for Research and Teaching of Language (VietTESOL), brought students in-depth professional knowledge and fresh perspectives on the emerging trends in linguistics in the digital era.
Dr. Đặng Tấn Tín engaged with the students through a keynote presentation titled “Research Capacity Building for Early-Career Researchers in EFL Education” (An Approach for Teaching English as a Foreign Language).” In his talk, Dr. Đặng Tấn Tín emphasized the importance of establishing a strong research foundation for students while still in school. The speaker also shared practical experiences from his own research journey, and offered useful advice on selecting research topics, choosing appropriate research methods, writing scientific reports, and effectively presenting research findings. In particular, Dr. Đặng Tấn Tín highlighted the significance of utilizing credible academic resources, formulating research questions, and the value of collaboration in research. His presentation garnered significant interest from both students and lecturers, fostering a lively atmosphere of exchange and discussion on issues related to scientific research in the field of foreign languages.

In his closing speech, Dr. Lê Thanh Hoà, Deputy Head of the Foreign Languages Department, expressed his deep gratitude to Dr. Lê Sĩ Hải, Vice Principal of the university, for attending and providing valuable guidance at the conference. He also thanked Dr. Đặng Tấn Tín for sharing valuable and profound insights at the event. On behalf of the Faculty Board, Dr. Lê Thanh Hoà affirmed: 'The faculty and students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Department will complete and exceed the assigned targets for student scientific research in myH25. In the coming time, the Department will also connect and collaborate further with experienced experts in scientific research to conduct academic activities, aiming to enhance both the theoretical and research skills of faculty members and students as well as their ability to publish scientific research findings.
The Student Scientific Research Conference of the Foreign Languages Department has contributed to spreading the spirit of scientific research within the student community and reaffirmed the commitment of the Foreign Languages Department to training high-quality human resources to meet the developmental needs of society.
