The English Club kicked off its first meeting in a fun and exciting atmosphere, setting an enthusiastic tone for 2025. Club members and volunteers had the opportunity to refresh their Tet-related vocabulary while participating in engaging discussions about Lunar New Year traditions.
Throughout these discussions, members explored the differences between Eastern and Western celebrations, from the customs and traditional dishes to the unique ways each culture welcomes the new year. They also learned about the similarities and differences between Vietnamese and Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations, which helped them to develop a greater understanding of the fascinating cultural diversity of Asia.
In the spirit of these discussions, the club also put together a paper lantern-making activity, where members had the chance to cut, paste, and decorate colorful lanterns – a popular feature of Lunar New Year decoration. This shared experience not only gave everyone the opportunity to have fun but also helped them connect and create meaningful, lasting memories together.
The meeting ended with everyone feeling excited and looking forward to the upcoming gatherings.
The club looks forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting for even more exciting experiences! Meanwhile, let’s look back at some of the highlights from the first meeting of the English Club!
