Van Hien University marked International Women’s Day with a staff celebration programme held on 6 March 2026 at Trong Dong Hall, HungHau Campus. Bringing together lecturers and staff from across the University, the event offered an opportunity to celebrate, connect and recognise the contributions of women in the University community.
The programme drew strong participation from faculties, departments and centres across the University. Among its main highlights was a cupcake decorating and flower-arranging competition featuring six teams from different units. The Faculty of Foreign Languages took part as a member of Team No. 6, alongside representatives from the Faculty of Arts, the Information and Communications Centre, and the Foreign Languages Centre.
Each team fielded six male members for the cupcake decorating and flower-arranging events and prepared its own materials for the competition. In the cupcake round, participants used cake bases, cream, fresh fruit, sweet toppings and other decorative materials to produce visually appealing entries while ensuring food hygiene and safety. The use of ready-made products was not permitted, so as to place greater emphasis on creativity and hands-on skill.
In the flower-arranging round, teams prepared fresh flowers, coloured paper, baskets, floral foam, ribbons and other decorative materials to complete their entries in line with the programme theme. Working within 60 minutes, the teams produced pieces that combined aesthetic value with meaningful messages for women. After completing their entries, each team gave a two-minute presentation to the judging panel, explaining the idea and message behind its work.
Entries were evaluated on a number of criteria, including completion time, creativity, teamwork, aesthetic quality, cleanliness of the competition area and presentation performance. The finished pieces reflected not only the participants’ skill and coordination, but also their appreciation for women in the Van Hien community.
The event also included the minigame Understanding the Ladies, which added a light-hearted touch to the programme. In this activity, each team nominated four male members to take part. Through a series of questions related to personal preferences, habits, outlook and working style, the activity brought laughter and a sense of fun to the event.
With strong coordination and creative ideas, Team No. 6, which included representatives from the Faculty of Foreign Languages, was awarded Third Prize. The result reflected the team’s collective effort and added to the warm, positive atmosphere of the event.
Through their participation, lecturers from the Faculty of Foreign Languages joined colleagues across the University in celebrating International Women’s Day and reflecting a spirit of connection, appreciation and shared engagement within the Van Hien community.
Let us now look back at some highlights from the programme.
