To celebrate International Francophonie Day (March 20th), the program “Journée de découverte - Journey through the Francophone Community with Virtual Reality” was held on March 21, 2026, at the Francophone University Cooperation Space in Ho Chi Minh City. This meaningful activity, co-organized by the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), aimed to provide students with a fresh perspective on learning, experiencing, and promoting the Francophone community through Virtual Reality (VR) technology.
The program attracted a large number of students from various Francophone clubs across the city, representing a wide range of French proficiency levels. Notably, French Language majors from the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Van Hien University actively participated, demonstrating a strong spirit of inquiry, integration, and a deep passion for French language and culture. More than just an extracurricular activity, the event served as a bridge for students to engage in academic exchange, share experiences, and expand their networks within the Francophone student community in Ho Chi Minh City.
Students were given the opportunity to directly explore and experience VR headsets, accessing a wealth of Francophone-themed VR applications. This allowed participants to not only better understand new technology but also recognize the potential of VR in education and cultural communication.
A key highlight of the program was the teamwork session. Each team, consisting of 3 to 5 students, collaborated to build a creative proposal for applying VR technology to promote the Francophone community. The groups demonstrated great initiative in selecting diverse content and developing organizational scripts, including target audiences, formats, and duration, and emphasizing innovative elements within their ideas. These proposals held both academic and practical value, with the potential to be implemented in future AUF Francophone events.
The “Journey through the Francophone Community with Virtual Reality” program left a lasting impression through its novel content and professional organization, creating an environment where students could learn, experience, and innovate simultaneously. For students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Van Hien University, this was a valuable opportunity to access modern technology, enhance their foreign language proficiency, and develop international integration skills within the context of digital transformation.
