Under the theme "The Power of Words" - 「言葉の力」, the Finals of the 6th Open Japanese Speech Contest - 2026 brought a vibrant academic atmosphere, where students from various universities showcased their Japanese language proficiency, critical thinking skills, and public speaking confidence.
The 6th Open Japanese Speech Contest 2026 is an academic event for students passionate about the Japanese language, providing an opportunity for learners to apply their linguistic knowledge in real-life communication and presentation scenarios. Going beyond merely testing foreign language proficiency, the contest aims to encourage students to think proactively, develop personal perspectives, and convey their messages in Japanese clearly and persuasively.
In the Finals, the contestants engaged in a competition that showcased their Japanese language proficiency across various aspects, ranging from idea development and word choice to presentation skills and audience interaction. Each speech was the culmination of rigorous preparation, demonstrating the students' confidence in utilizing a foreign language within a competitive academic setting.
In the final results, Nguyen Xuan Bach from Foreign Trade University - Ho Chi Minh City Campus excellently won the First Prize. The Second Prize went to Le Phuong Thao from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), while Pham Nhat Trung from Van Hien University secured the Third Prize.
Additionally, the Organizing Committee awarded Consolation Prizes to the following contestants: Le Thi Nhu Y - Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH); Nguyen Thi Xuan Thuy - Van Hien University; Truong Quyen Linh - Lac Hong University; Pham Thi Xuan Nhi - Van Hien University; and Do Nguyen Yen Ngan - Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
The participation of students from various higher education institutions created a multi-dimensional exchange environment, providing them with more opportunities to learn about study methods, Japanese usage, and public speaking experience. For Van Hien University students, this was also an occasion to affirm their foreign language capabilities, proactive spirit, and adaptability within an inter-university academic environment.
