The Finals of the 3rd Open Chinese Dubbing Competition for the 2025 - 2026 academic year, under the theme "Echoes of Antiquity," have concluded with highly emotional and creative performances. Students from Van Hien University continued to leave their mark by securing numerous outstanding achievements at the contest, including the highest prize.
Dubbing is a method of foreign language learning that requires a combination of linguistic capability, pronunciation, expressiveness, and communication reflexes. Therefore, the competition not only demands that contestants use Chinese accurately but also provides an opportunity for them to apply the language in highly expressive situations.
Under the theme "Echoes of Antiquity," the Finals brought together contestants from various universities, creating a diverse space for academic exchange. Through the characters, situations, and dialogues portrayed on stage, the candidates had the opportunity to demonstrate their language mastery, express emotions, and infuse their own personalities into every performance.
The competition was structured into two segments: Individual Performance and Head-to-Head. While the individual segment provided an opportunity for each contestant to showcase their unique style, pronunciation, and character interpretation, the head-to-head round demanded faster reflexes, coordination, and the ability to improvise in unexpected situations. This combination created captivating matchups, while simultaneously allowing contestants to test their Chinese language proficiency in a competitive environment.
At the competition this year, Le Thi Bich Ngoc, representing Van Hien University, successfully secured the First Prize. This distinction acknowledges the intensive preparation process and the adaptable Chinese linguistic capabilities demonstrated by Van Hien students within a comprehensive inter-university academic framework.
Additionally, Nguyen Thi Thu Thao from Van Hien University won the Third Prize. Two other Van Hien students, Bui Thi My Hien and Nguyen Thi Duy Nhu, were awarded Consolation Prizes; notably, Nguyen Thi Duy Nhu also received the Most Popular Contestant Award.
Regarding the other classifications, the Second Prize was secured by Nguyen Thi My Nhu from Tra Vinh University. The other Third Prize was bestowed upon Mai Thi Anh Thu from Van Lang University. The Honorable Mention category further acknowledged participants Tran Pham Yen Nhi (Lac Hong University), Nguyen Thi Hoai Uoc (Dalat University), Le Pham Phuong Vy (Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology), Manh Nha Van (Hung Vuong University Ho Chi Minh City), and Le Thi Van (Nguyen Tat Thanh University). Furthermore, Mai Thi Anh Thu was recognized in the Most Creative Dubbing Performance category.
The results achieved demonstrate the effectiveness of combining foreign language learning with practical experience. Through academic activities and specialized competitions, students have the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to specific situations, thereby simultaneously developing their language proficiency, expressive skills, and communication confidence.
