On October 25–26, 2025, two lecturers from the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Van Hien University - Dr. Lai Khai Vinh and Dr. Le Thanh Hoa - represented the university at the International Conference on Vietnamese and Taiwanese Language Studies, held at National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan. This year’s conference brought together more than 500 researchers, lecturers, and linguistic experts from various countries, creating a vibrant and multidimensional academic environment. During the event, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on emerging trends in language teaching and research, as well as on the cultural interactions between Vietnam and Taiwan in the context of international integration.
Representing the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Dr. Lai Khai Vinh and Dr. Le Thanh Hoa presented a scientific paper titled “A Contrastive Analysis of the Tonal Systems of Saigon Vietnamese and Taiwanese Mandarin.” which attracted considerable interest and received highly positive feedback from international researchers. The study not only contributed to a deeper understanding of the phonetic characteristics of the two languages but also demonstrated the research capabilities and academic rigor of the lecturers from Van Hien University. In addition to presenting their paper, the two lecturers also had the opportunity to engage in academic exchanges and explore potential collaborations with scholars from various universities across the region, particularly in the fields of comparative linguistics and language education.
Participation in this conference was not only an opportunity to promote the image and reputation of Van Hien University, but also a meaningful step toward strengthening international cooperation in the fields of language teaching and research. The experiences, knowledge, and academic connections gained by the two lecturers through this event are expected to yield practical and lasting benefits, contributing to the continued improvement of teaching quality and scholarly research within the Faculty of Foreign Languages in the future.
