On the morning of June 19, 2026, at the Heritage Meeting Room, HungHau Campus, the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Van Hien University successfully organized the Scientific Research Skills Training Conference for Linguistics students with the theme "From practical problems to feasible research design". The program is one of the practical academic activities to foster scientific research capacity, contribute to the formation of research thinking and encourage students to actively approach practical issues in the field of language.
At the beginning of the program, the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Foreign Languages emphasized the role of scientific research for Language students in the context of constantly innovating education and technology. Research activities not only help learners consolidate their professional knowledge but also develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to apply knowledge to academic and professional practice.
The highlight of the conference was the presentation "Shaping student scientific research topics in the field of Applied Linguistics" by Dr. Chau Thuc Quyen presented. With experience in teaching and guiding scientific research, the speaker shared many practical perspectives on how to select and develop research ideas, and guided students to identify issues of academic value associated with the actual needs of society.
Through the presentation, students have access to the process of building a research topic from identifying problems, defining research objectives, formulating research questions to selecting appropriate research methods and designs. Specific illustrative examples and practical experiences have helped learners better understand the criteria of a feasible, applicable and suitable research capacity at the university level.
Not only providing basic knowledge, but the program also creates conditions for students to communicate directly with speakers and lecturers during the seminar. The atmosphere of discussion took place excitedly with many questions revolving around the contents such as how to find research gaps, evaluate the feasibility of the topic, choose appropriate research methods, search for sources of materials and effectively exploit learning resources for research.
In particular, the topic of applying artificial intelligence (AI) in scientific research has received great attention from students. The speaker shared orientations on the use of AI as a support tool in the process of document search, concept building, and information processing, and emphasized the importance of adhering to the principles of academic integrity, ensuring honesty, and transparency and responsibility in scientific research.
Through the program, many students had the opportunity to answer their concerns in the process of forming research ideas, and at the same time were inspired to boldly participate in scientific research activities in the future. This is also an opportunity to connect between lecturers and students, contributing to building a dynamic and creative academic environment and promoting a research culture in the Faculty of Foreign Languages. Let's take a look back at some memorable moments at the training:
