To create a dynamic, friendly and highly interactive English-learning environment, the English Club of the Faculty of International Languages and Culture, Van Hien University, held its regular September meeting under the theme “Learn, Play & Speak.” The program gave students opportunities to practice English through a diverse series of activities that combined learning, play and communication.
At the start of the program, the meeting quickly became lively with the “Money Talk” activity. Students were encouraged to interact with their peers and use English in familiar situations before moving on to the main activities. It was also a chance for members to get to know one another, connect and create an open atmosphere within the club. Next came the “Sentence Scramble” activity, in which students arranged given words into complete sentences. The activity not only made learning more engaging but also helped students reinforce their knowledge of sentence structure, word order and ways of expression in English. In addition, the “Find the Mistakes” activity challenged students to observe, identify and correct errors in sentences. Through it, learners had further opportunities to review grammar and develop carefulness when using English.
The standout activity of the meeting was “Speaking Time.” Students were encouraged to share their thoughts, present their opinions and interact in English in a relaxed atmosphere. Practicing speaking in a low-pressure environment gave students more opportunities to overcome their hesitation while gradually building confidence and improving their ability to express themselves in English.
By combining academic activities with games and communication, the September meeting created a positive learning space where students could learn through experience, practice through interaction and develop skills through real-life communication. These activities also encouraged students to use English proactively outside the classroom and to form an active, self-directed habit of learning a foreign language.
